If you’re anything like me, you’re thinking to yourself, perhaps a little sarcastically, Ahh, yes, patience. Good, let’s get the hardest virtue out of the way so the rest of the year is smooth sailing! I feel like out of all of the challenges in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, patience is by far the one that comes the least naturally. But, I guess that means it’s a good thing it comes first, because it’s definitely going to take (at least!) a whole year’s worth of practice to make it even remotely close to being a habit.

But first things first, what exactly is patience? I’m an attorney, so of course I have to start with the ordinary meaning of the word. The Cambridge Dictionary defines ‘patience’ as “the ability to wait, or to continue doing something despite difficulties, or to suffer without complaining or becoming annoyed.” Ha!

Okay great, now that we’ve got that settled, how do we actually achieve this seemingly impossible ideal? I have absolutely no idea. But I intend to find out. Wish me luck!
